Q1.What made you start Saracen?
I used to own a store in Namdaemun Market that sold cosmetics and beauty products. I naturally began dealing with manicure products and became more and more interested in the nail art industry. At that time, nail salons were opening here and there in Korea but it was not yet a widely prevalent market. However, I could see that the nail art industry was thriving in other countries around the world and I could see that it would soon be the case in Korea as well.

As such, I dedicated half of my store to a store dedicated to nail art products. A lot of clients like this change so 6 months later, I opened up a new store that was 100 pyeong big called ‘Sara Nail’ that was dedicated solely to nail art products.
Q2.What do you consider to be the most important in your business?
The most important thing in my business is ‘trust’. For the last 30 years, I have never broken my trust with any of my business partners regarding my products or payments. I firmly believe that my continued responsibility in this regard that I have shown to my business partners and customers is what is propelling Saracen forward. I will continue to work hard to ensure that we are a company that never fails to keep our promises.

Q3.What kind of company is Saracen?
Saracen strives to be a challenging, pioneering company in the field of nail art. We have always developed our business based on being pioneers in the field and using that know-how in our work.

We were the first to create a self-developed shopping mall in the industry and are running it to this day. We were also the first to create a nail art YouTube channel and continue to upload content. Furthermore, in accordance with the ‘non-contact era’, we prepared an ‘Online Beauty Expo’ in advance. We at Saracen have continued to attempt new things such as live broadcasting, live chatting sessions, etc.

We have been a good reference point for others in this industry. We believe that we have provided a model example of how a business can be self-sustaining and survive in an age where we face the 4th industrial revolution.
Q4.What distinguishes Saracen nail commerce from others?
As mentioned before, Saracen does not cease to try new things. We make sure that in areas in which we see significant progress, we put in bold investments and create new designated teams with competent professionals so that there can be sustainable growth. As such, Saracen consists of 8 teams that each react swiftly and meticulously in diverse fields of business. This is our biggest strength and distinguishment from other ordinary stores that only run an online shopping mall.
Q5.What are your plan and goals for the future?
We are thinking about expanding our business to categories other than the nail art field we are in right now. Additionally, we are also interested in the AD business that combines the IP business and our business through ‘Sara Friends’. We are looking forward to meeting you by stepping one step further into various value-added businesses by applying our strengths: a strong IT infra system and the ability to self-develop content.
